David Warner has been one of the vital cogs of the Australian national cricket team for more than a decade. He made his international debut against the South African cricket team during an ODI in 2009.
During the initial stages of his cricketing career, he failed to cement his spot in the national set-up. He was in and out of the national reckoning owing to a string of low scores in big matches.
However, he did get better over time by picking up lessons on the go. As a result, he was able to accomplish great things for Australian cricket and has well and truly made a case for himself as an all-format player.
Today, David Warner is one of the best openers in the world without any second thoughts. The impact that he has created with his performances has been surreal.
David Warner drops a massive hint at retirement
Meanwhile, the experienced campaigner made the headlines after he dropped a massive hint at his retirement. According to him, the next calendar year (i.e. 2024) will most likely be the last year of his international career.
Warner has targeted the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 as an international career farewell. Moreover, he will also be playing a big part for Australia in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 which will be held in India.
During an interview with Sky Sports, David Warner said 2024 will most likely be the final journey of his international cricket career. Meanwhile, David Warner has now returned to Australia’s premier T20 competition, KFC Big Bash League after nine years.
Surprisingly, David Warner who has been involved in multiple T20 leagues across the world has played only three games in the Big Bash League. Warner scored 152 runs in the BBL at a strike rate of 180.95. He will be representing the Sydney Thunder franchise in the ongoing BBL season to help the team accomplish more wins.
