Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq has made a bold statement ahead of the final of the Asia Cup 2022. He said that despite the loss against Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage of the tournament, his team is ready for the summit clash.
“We are confident of doing well in the final” – Saqlain Mushtaq
Although Pakistan has qualified for the finals of the Asia Cup 2022, their batting performance in the two games of the Super 4 stage has let them down. It was their bowling department that brought them back into the game and gave them a chance of winning.
In their game against Afghanistan, Pakistan struggled to chase 130 runs and it almost seemed that would lose. But thanks to Naseem Shah’s blows in the end that sealed the game for them.
We a great side, now we want to become a champion side!

Against Sri Lanka, their batting yet again failed as they were bundled out for just 121 runs. Apart from Mohammad Rizwan, almost every batter has struggled at some stage. Their poor batting performance led to their loss against Sri Lanka by 5 wickets.
With the scheduled to play Pakistan in the final of Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday (11th September) their batting will be one of the major concerns for them.
But coach Mushtaq feels that his side is right on track end and they are ready for the finals. Speaking during the press conference, he said:
“Our batting has done well against India and Afghanistan when we chased. You might think that it was a small total and Naseem Shah won it for us but all eleven players batted. We are confident of doing well in the final. Shocks do happen in cricket when wickets fall. Sri Lanka played better cricket and won. As a team, we should not be thinking about the outcome of the toss.”
Saqlain Mushtaq backs Babar Azam despite poor form
Babar Azam is having a horrendous time with the bat in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. The right-hander has amassed just 63 runs in five innings at a poor average. For Pakistan to make a statement, it’ll be a must for the skipper to set the stage on fire with the bat.
"We are now just one step away from our goal of winning the trophy. Every captain and team, dreams of winning the trophy. As a team, our goal, is to perform well and win the tournament," Babar Azam

Mushtaq feels Babar is in the good form but the batter isn’t getting the desired luck in his favor.
“Babar is in good form. It is just that luck is not going his way. The kind of boundaries he hit against India, a batter with deeper eyes will say that his form his fine. It is his luck which is not going you.” He said.
