Sreesanth has announced his retirement from all formats of Indian domestic cricket and international cricket. The right-arm fast bowler announced his decision via a series of tweets. While the 2011 Cricket World Cup winner has called it a day on his domestic career, he is open to playing for other teams in overseas leagues.
Many fans remember Sreesanth for his contributions to the Indian cricket team in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 Cricket World Cup. A ban because of his involvement in a fixing scandal derailed his career, but the Kerala-based fast bowler achieved a lot of success during his time as an Indian cricketer.
He was a part of the Indian cricket team’s playing XI in the 2007 T20 World Cup Final and the 2011 World Cup Final. While the 2011 World Cup was not so memorable for him, Sreesanth played an integral role in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup triumph.
The right-arm fast bowler bowled a match-winning spell against the Australian cricket team in the semifinals and then took the catch of Misbah-ul-Haq in the final as the Men in Blue emerged as the champions of the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup.
“It has been an honor to represent my family, my teammates and the people of India. Nd everyone who loves the game . With much sadness but without regret, I say this with a heavy heart: I am retiring from the Indian domestic (first class and all formats )cricket,” the fast bowler wrote on Twitter.

Apart from the domestic cricket matches, Sreesanth will also not participate in the Indian Premier League going forward. He was shortlisted for the IPL 2022 Mega Auction but did not receive a contract. It will be interesting to see what he does next.
