Jasprit Bumrah was last seen donning the Indian outfit back in September 2022 during a T20I against the Australian cricket team. The right-arm paceman was not at all comfortable in terms of fitness since then.
In what was a major setback to the Indian cricket team, the 28-year-old fast bowler was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 tournament as he was suffering from a back spasm.
The Indian team management wanted him to go through a recovery process such that he could be a part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. It was a race against time for Bumrah but unfortunately, he couldn’t recover on time.
As a result, he was also ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Although Bumrah has completely recovered from the injury and is also ready for the team selection, the selectors didn’t include him in the squad for the Sri Lanka series.
Jasprit Bumrah became only the 2nd Indian bowler after Ravindra Jadeja to pick a fifer in both ODIs and Tests in 2022
The experienced bowler would be gutted after missing the two crucial events due to an injury. He might as well be looking forward to making a comeback for the home assignment against Australia which includes four-match Test series and three ODIs.
While 2022 wasn’t kind enough for Bumrah, there were a few positives to take from the last calendar year. He became the only second Indian bowler after Ravindra Jadeja to pick a five-wicket haul in both ODIs and Tests in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia).
Jasprit Bumrah has represented the Indian cricket team in 30 Tests, 72 ODIs and 60 Tests in his stellar cricketing career wherein he accounted for 128 wickets, 121 wickets and 70 wickets in the respective formats. Notably, he has bagged as many as eight fifers in Tests and two fifers in ODIs.
