Most of today’s top-tier cricket players, including the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Babar Azam and Joe Root, started their careers as youngster players.
Notably, they were identified as talented players early on in their careers. If they weren’t backed and nurtured by the respective boards, we wouldn’t have seen them grow as world-class cricketers.
Case in point, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young talent has been making waves in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The left-handed batsman has let his bat do the talking, more often than not this season.
He has been helping the Rajasthan Royals lead the batting attack by example. Currently, he is the leading run-scorer for Rajasthan Royals and is also the second-leading run-scorer in the ongoing IPL season.
Kohli, Dhoni and Rohit played big roles in my career: Yashasvi Jaiswal
The young southpaw who scored 428 runs at an average of 47.56 isn’t far away from making a debut for Team India in the future. He has all the tools and ingredients to shine at the highest level.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with TOI, he reserved the highest respect for MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for playing big roles in his career. He said Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni played big roles in his career and that he has taken advice from them.
Besides that, he said he also took advice from Rohit Sharma as well and then learned a lot from them. If Yashasvi Jaiswal maintains the consistency, then he has a great chance to finish the tournament as the leading run-scorer.
Overall, he has played as many as 32 games in the IPL wherein he scored 975 runs at an average of 30.47. He has slammed one century and as many as six half-centuries to his name and maintained a strike rate of 144.66.
