IND vs SA Live Update: On Thursday, Team India will make its return to international cricket when the squad takes on South Africa in the opening Twenty20 International of the five-match series that will be held in Delhi. A day before the first game of the series was supposed to begin, India was dealt a pair of blows when it was announced that captain KL Rahul and spinner Kuldeep Yadav would not be able to play because of injuries. In Rahul’s absence, Rishabh Pant assumed the role of team captain, while Hardik Pandya was promoted to the position of vice-captain of the Indian cricket team.

In this series, the Indian team will include several young players, including Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh, who have been given their first call-ups to the national team. Umran, in particular, garnered notice during the 2022 Indian Premier League for his excellent speed, which he displayed for the whole of the season. The pair delivered consistent performances throughout the competition.

Throughout the season, the Jammu and Kashmir speedster consistently bowled at speeds that were more than 150 kilometers per hour. Irfan Pathan, a former bowler for India who now coaches Umran, feels that the “whole world” would be eager to see Umran playing for India.

IND vs SA Live Update: Irfan Pathan talks about Umran Malik

“Wow, Umran Malik has routinely bowled at 150 kilometers per hour, as you may know. He has made an impression on me. Because of this, the whole world is delighted, not just India,” Pathan said on Star Sports’ Follow The Blues.

“Considering that he does have some promise, it should come as no surprise that he lacks experience when it comes to playing first-class cricket. On the other hand, I believe that the team management, Rahul Dravid, and all of the coaches will support him,” Pathan said.

Pathan also discussed Arshdeep, reiterating his opinion that the left-arm pacer’s reliability in the death overs is something that has pleased him.

“Ecstatic to learn that these two men have been selected to play for India. Arshdeep Singh’s bowling has significantly improved over the last several years. The manner in which he has bowled in the death overs has struck me the most. A left-arm bowler does offer you a different aspect,” added Irfan.
