Virat Kohli, a batsman for the Indian cricket team, has acknowledged that Babar Azam, captain of Pakistan, is likely the finest batsman in the world right now across all three forms of the game. In addition to that, he complimented the cricket player on how humble he had remained throughout his successful career.

Over the last few years, the friendship between the captain of Pakistan’s team and Kohli has been in the spotlight on several occasions. An image of them interacting when they were getting ready for the Asia Cup 2022 went viral a few days ago, and it did so again just recently.

When the Men in Blue take on Pakistan in Dubai this coming Sunday, Kohli and Babar will be competing for opposing teams (August 28). Kohli gave an interview before the big game in which he opened up about his relationship with the Pakistan run machine.

What did Virat Kohli say about Babar Azam?

He said this to Star Sports: “The first time we spoke was after the 2019 World Cup game in Manchester, which was when it all started for us. Imad (Wasim), whom I have known since we competed against each other in under-19 cricket, told me that Babar wanted to have a conversation with me. After settling down, we had a conversation about the game.”

The cricketer from Pakistan, who is 33 years old, was praised for being true to himself despite the enormous amount of success he has attained.

Kohli added: “From the very beginning, he showed a high level of attention and respect for me. This is still the case even though he is perhaps the best batter in the world right now across all formats because of how consistently he performs. To put it in perspective, his skill is really remarkable. I have always appreciated getting to see him perform. That (his conduct) hasn’t altered because he is performing now and he is coming into his own. I don’t perceive any shift in either his attitude or his approach toward me, which is a really excellent indicator of someone who is deeply rooted in the foundations he was raised with. His roots in cricket are quite strong as well,” said the former skipper of India.

Babar has played for Pakistan in a total of 10472 matches across all three forms of the game, scoring a total of 10472 runs over 42 Tests, 92 ODIs, and 74 T20Is.

Babar has turned in some incredible performances in recent contests, and he brings that form into the Asia Cup 2022. During the two-match test series against Sri Lanka, he had a score of one hundred and two scores of fifty. In addition, the Pakistan skipper posted scores of 74, 57, and 91 in the one-day internationals played against the Netherlands.
