“I feel confident and comfortable with…” – Tilak Varma says Mumbai Indians don’t treat him as a youngster or a newcomer to the team

Mumbai Indians hit the rock bottom of the IPL 2022 points table as they could win only four games and lost the rest of the ten games. While the entire franchise was in turmoil and utter chaos, there was one bright spot in the dark phase.

It was none other than youngster Tilak Varma. The left-handed batter has been the best batsman for Mumbai Indians since the last season. He was one of the top performers for the franchise in the last season.

Having featured in all 14 games for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022 season, Tilak Varma scored 397 runs at an average of 36.09 and a strike rate of 131.02 including two half-centuries.

Tilak Varma continued his form from where he left off and dominated the proceedings with a fearless brand of cricket. The 20-year-old is currently the leading run-scorer of Mumbai Indians this season.

The southpaw scored 214 runs in five games this season at an average of 53.50 and a phenomenal strike rate of 158.52. Overall, he has hit a flurry of 17 boundaries and 14 hits over the fence.

He will be looking forward to scoring plenty of runs this season. Meanwhile, Tilak Varma stressed the fact that Mumbai Indians don’t see him as a youngster or a newcomer to the team.

Furthermore, he added that being amongst the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and the skipper of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma and everyone, he said he feels confident and comfortable with them.

In the recently-concluded match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Tilak Varma chipped in with a quickfire 37 off 17 balls where he slammed two fours and four sixes to his name.

Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs to secure their third consecutive win this season. Mumbai Indians will lock horns with Punjab Kings in the 31st match at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 22.
