Wriddhiman Saha has become the talk of the town after he applied for a NOC to the Cricket Association of Bengal. CAB surprisingly named him in the squad for the upcoming knockout phase of the Ranji Trophy. Earlier this season, Saha had opted against playing for Bengal due to some personal reasons.
Soon after CAB picked him in the squad for the knockout round, reports surfaced online claiming that Wriddhiman Saha has applied for a No Objection Certificate. His wife Romi Mitra had an interview with SportStar, where she stated that her husband was hurt by the statements by CAB officials.
CAB joint secretary Debabrata Das questioned Saha’s commitment to Bengal cricket after he decided to pull out of the initial matches of the Ranji Trophy. Speaking about how her husband felt, Romi Mitra said:
“A few months ago, when Wriddhi decided to skip the Ranji Trophy league stage due to personal reasons, a certain CAB official gave a statement to the media doubting his commitment. Being a senior player, who has given so much to Bengal cricket, Wriddhi was hurt with such statements.”
Wriddhiman Saha had a chat with Cricket Association of Bengal President Avishek Dalmiya
During the same interview, Romi Mitra disclosed that soon after the squad announcement, Wriddhiman Saha had a chat with the Cricket Association of Bengal President Avishek Dalmiya where he made it clear that he is not in a position to play for Bengal now because he is hurt with the statements made by a CAB official in the past.
“Wriddhi told him that he is not in a position to play for Bengal again,” Romi Mitra added.
Saha is currently playing for the Gujarat Titans in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. He won the Man of the Match award in GT’s last fixture against the Chennai Super Kings.
