While New Zealand has been among the top sides in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022, the form of their skipper Kane Williamson has been concerning for them. In the three games that he has batted so far, the right-hander has managed just 71 runs.

Although him getting out for low scores is concerning, what is affecting New Zealand is that he’s playing with a relatively less strike rate, which is hampering the starts that the Black Caps are getting.

In the game against Australia, Williamson scored 23 runs in 23 balls and then followed it with an 8-run knock in 13 balls again Sri Lanka. Although New Zealand won both games he didn’t come under many scanners.

In New Zealand’s recent game against England, Kane Williamson had a poor outing while chasing the target of 180 runs. The Kiwi skipper made 40 runs in 40 balls and it’s fair to say that he put his team on the back foot and eventually the Black Caps fell short of the target.

Following his poor knock, he came under a lot of scrutiny and many even raised calls and questioned his place in the team. Few even suggested him to drop himself and allow Martin Guptill to play.
