Following the ODI series defeat to Australia, skipper Rohit Sharma echoed that it is really important for the Indian players to take the much-needed rest ahead of the important international fixtures.

It is well-known that India missed Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup due to injuries. Meanwhile, Team India will lock horns with Australia in the ICC World Test Championship Final, which takes place between June 7-11 at The Kennington Oval.

Meanwhile, the former Indian cricketer, Ravi Shastri has issued a bold message to India’s governing body ahead of the Indian Premier League. The commentator who served as India’s head coach added that for Team India’s sake if Shreyas Iyer doesn’t play those games in the IPL, then it will be good.

Shreyas Iyer opted out of the ODI series against Australia owing to an injury. While speaking to Sports Yaari on the sidelines of the Legends League Cricket in Doha, Ravi Shastri added that the volume of cricket has increased to a great extent since there are different leagues in the world.

At the same time, he also added that the rest period is declining. Ravi Shastri urged the BCCI to take a stand to tell the IPL teams that the players are absolutely important for Team India’s chances going forward into the WTC Final and the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

The upcoming edition of the IPL will kick off on March 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as CSK will take on GT in the tournament opener.
