The South African veteran got a massive increase in his pay packet for IPL 2022. He has made the day even special by scoring a century. RCB hire Faf du Plessis for INR 7 Cr at IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions
One of the positions RCB had to fill was that of the opener. Virat Kohli needed a partner and hence, RCB tried a few options. Eventually, they settled for Faf du Plessis. Teams such as Chennai Super Kings were also interested but RCB paid INR 7 Cr for the services of the experienced player.
After signing Faf, RCB has procured other players such as Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga and Dinesh Karthik. However, the fans have been left disappointed as the performance of the management at the auctions has been poor so far. They overspent on players like Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga while they did not even bid for some cricketers such as Yuzvendra Chahal. It now needs to be seen as to how they would construct the rest of the squad.
Faf du Plessis scores a century today
Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis scored a century in the Bangladesh Premier League on Saturday. Captaining the Comilla Victorians, Faf came in to bat early at No.4 after the fall of a few quick wickets. He made 101 runs and took just 54 balls to do that. His knock included 12 boundaries and three huge hits out of the park. He helped his team set up a total of 182 after the first innings. The Khulna Tigers will now look to chase the score down, although it could be hard keeping in mind the conditions.
