Team India gave a horrible performance against Bangladesh in the first match of the ongoing ODI series between them. It was played today at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium (just like the other two matches that will be played in this series). The hosts won the toss and opted to bowl first. Team India were never really able to get a strong footing in this match. Opener Shikhar Dhawan departed after scoring just 7 runs and in-form Virat Kohli was no good either. He scored just 9 runs in today’s match. We know that captain Rohit Sharma is having a rough patch currently. Although his knock of 27 off 31 was better than India’s other top order batters today, it was not enough to get India going.
Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar and literally all other batters of India struggled in today’s match. KL Rahul’s knock of 73 off 70 was the only positive takeaway from this match as far as India’s batting lineup is concerned.
However, former Indian player Ajay Jadeja has asked us to focus on the attitude of the Indian batters today. According to him, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were the only two batsmen who looked good and confident today.
“Except Rohit Sharma & KL Rahul, none of the Indian batsmen looked good and confident in today’s match” Ajay Jadeja said.
Well, thankfully, this is something that can be easily changed. It is only the first match of the series afterall and the players will definitely take some getting used to to perform well on the foreign ground. It will thus be important to see how well these players perform in the second match and whether or not they will be able to bounce back from this defeat. The second match will be played at the same stadium on 9th December.
