While most of the Indian fans are worried how the Indian batsmen would fare against the Australian fast bowlers on a bouncy Oval pitch in the WTC final, the former Indian captain Virat Kohli reckons the biggest danger for team India in the WTC final will be the Australian opener David Warner.

Since Virat Kohli is not the captain of the Indian cricket team anymore, he didn’t address the pre-match press conference, but he talked to the official handle of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in the build up to the game and he marked out Warner as the biggest threat to team India.

David Warner doesn’t have the greatest of records with the bat in English conditions as far as test match cricket is concerned, but the WTC final will be played at Kennington Oval which is slightly difference from the other pitches across England.

We will have to dismiss David Warner early: Virat Kohli

Oval is one of the flattest pitches in England and according to Virat Kohli, if the Indian bowlers don’t dismiss Warner early with the new ball and the left-hander gets going, the tempo at which he bats, he can be really damaging for India. So, India must get Warner out as quickly as possible.

It’s been a long time since Warner last played a match winning innings for Australia in test cricket. He didn’t do much in the two test matches that he played on the recent India test tour either, but he seemed to be getting somewhere close to his best batting form towards the end of the IPL, even though it was white ball cricket.

If the ball doesn’t move much off the deck at Oval and Warner gets through the new ball, then in Virat Kohli’s opinion, the Aussie southpaw can take the game away from India in a very short period of time.
