Mumbai Indians have always been a team that expressed their appetite for winning trophies in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. It’s pretty apparent why they are dubbed as ‘serial winners’ in India’s premier T20 competition.
From IPL 2008 to 2012, Mumbai Indians didn’t really take the success route as they didn’t win a title in the first five seasons. They made it to the finals of the 2010 edition but lost to MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings.
However, when Rohit Sharma took charge as captain in IPL 2013, things changed for the betterment of Mumbai Indians. In his first season as captain, MI went on to win the first title by beating CSK in the final.
Since then, they showcased their dominance in the odd seasons of the IPL, winning their second title in IPL 2015, the third title in IPL 2017 and the fourth title in IPL 2019.
Mumbai Indians are the most valuable IPL brand this year
Just as when the cricket fraternity expected that Mumbai Indians wouldn’t win the title in the even season, Mumbai Indians pulled off a trigger and surprised everyone by winning their fifth title.
They went on to beat Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020 final to claim their fifth title and also became the most successful franchise in the history of the lucrative tournament.
It is also worth mentioning here that Mumbai Indians are also the most valuable IPL brand in 2022 according to Money Control. It wouldn’t have been possible without the cumulative efforts of the players of the franchise.
They ran through a debacle in the last edition of the IPL as they were languishing at the bottom of the points table. At the end of the season, they finished in 10th place, in what was the worst-ever campaign in their history. However, the MI franchise will be hoping to make a fresh comeback in the next season.
