Jasprit Bumrah made the headlines recently after he was included in the ODI squad for the three-match ODI series against the Sri Lankan cricket team. However, there was a change of plan at the last minute at Indian cricket.
The Indian selection committee decided not to rush Jasprit Bumrah straightaway into the playing XI. As a result, the board pulled out the pacer’s name from the ODI squad. The members of the board felt that drafting Bumrah in the playing XI might be risky, considering that India will have to play important fixtures in the future.
As far as Team India are concerned, they will be hoping to give it a good shot in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. India will play as many as four Tests against the Aussies and it is imperative for them to win most of the games to qualify for the WTC final.

While it was expected that the premier fast bowler would make a comeback for the Border Gavaskar Trophy, it seems that his comeback to the national cricket team is going to get delayed after all.
According to a report from ESPNCricinfo, Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss the majority of Border Gavaskar Trophy. This is indeed a big blow to Team India and there is no exact date of the bowler’s return.
Many reckon that Bumrah should play domestic cricket before making a national team comeback. Since he has been on a hiatus, it is important for him to gain the confidence by playing domestic cricket.
Jasprit Bumrah’s last international appearance came against Australia during a T20I match. The right-arm paceman had some injury issues to deal with in the last few months. The right-arm pacer was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 and the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2022 in Australia due to a knee injury.
