The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League continues tonight with a match between the undefeated Gujarat Titans and IPL 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kane Williamson won the match and decided to bowl first at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away 17 runs in the first over.

Williamson made it clear at the toss that there were no changes to his playing XI. In their last match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, the Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated the Chennai Super Kings quite comfortably.

Here’s what Kane Williamson said at the toss earlier today:

“We’re going to have a bowl. I think there’s still that dew factor so for us it’s about using our skills first up with the ball in hand and then chase it down. We saw improvement in the second match and some again in the third which resulted in a win. Hopefully we can put in another strong performance tonight.”

Bhuvneshwar Kumar did not have the best start with the ball for Sunrisers Hyderabad

Kane Williamson won the toss and assigned the responsibility of bowling the first over of the game to his experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The right-arm fast bowler is a former IPL Purple Cap winner. He is famous for his swing bowling.

However, in the first over of the match against the Gujarat Titans, Kumar failed to impress with his line and length. He started the match with a four on the first ball. The next ball was a 5-wides down the leg side. Matthew Wade then took a single.

Kumar bowled a wide to Shubman Gill before he took a single. When Wade came back on strike, Kumar conceded a 5-wides again. Thus, the Gujarat Titans got 17 runs from the first over of the match. Bhuvneshwar bowled nine balls in his first over.

Here’s how the fans on Twitter reacted to his performance in over number 1:
