The England cricket team has been going through a very tough time in test cricket at the moment and they are now on the verge of losing another test series, this time against West Indies away from home.
Last year, England equalled the world record of losing the most number of test matches ever in a calendar year as they lost an away test series against India by 3-1, lost a home test series against New Zealand by 1-0, trailed a home test series against India by 2-1 and then lost the first three test matches of the away Ashes series as well.
This year doesn’t seem to have started on a great note for England either as far as the longest format of the game is concerned. After losing the last test of the Ashes, England then went to West Indies where they drew the first couple of test matches, but are now close to losing the third test and losing the series.
England has a lead of just 10 runs in the second innings of the third test against West Indies at Grenada and they have already lost their 8 wickets. It seems very likely at this point of time that West Indies would beat England in a test series at home again.
Former players of England cricket team have been very critical of IPL
After the Ashes debacle of the England cricket team, many English pundits had claimed that the reason why the England players are not performing well in test cricket is because they participate in the IPL and don’t get enough preparation time for the longest format of the game.
After England slipped to another series losing situation in test cricket, the Indian fans on twitter took the mickey out of the English pundits as they posted some hilarious tweets saying IPL must again be responsible for England’s performance in West Indies.
Here is how twitter reacted as England lost 8 wickets for just 103 runs in the second innings of the third test match against West Indies –

Who will England blame this time? IPL? BBL? The Hundred? Or will they finally have to take responsibility and ownership of the fact that Test dynasties come and go in cycles? It's not the end of the world to have a bad year in Tests. It happens to literally everybody.

As fans of the game of cricket, the fans, especially in India, whole-heartedly apologise to England for their poor test-match performances, because of the IPL. The moment the IPL begins, their test match performances drop. This is a matter of great concern.#TestCricket
