The Australian cricket team are currently enjoying a dream run in the second cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. Rightly so, they are on top of the points table and they have suffered just one defeat so far in the cycle.

Australia have almost qualified for the WTC final after their win over South Africa in the second Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Aussies won the Gabba Test against Proteas by six wickets and went on to win the second Test by an innings and 182 runs.

They won the Test series by 2-0 with one more game to be played on January 4 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Aussies will be looking to win the next Test to further strengthen their chances of qualifying for the WTC final else they would have to collect some points from the India series.

Mitchell Starc might miss a few Tests against Team India

In the latest development, Australia’s most-experienced fast bowler Mitchell Starc is doubtful for a few Tests against Team India in the four-match Test series, which will go all guns blazing from February 9 onwards.

According to a report from Sydney Morning Herald, Mitchell Starc could be unavailable for a few games as the left-arm paceman faces a race against time to be fit for the Test series against Team India.

He will also be missing the third and final Test against South Africa owing to a tendon injury in the middle finger of his left hand. Mitchell Starc opened up that the tendon on his injured finger is gone and that he will need some time to recover.

Mitchell Starc’s absence would be a huge blow to Australia but surely is good news for Team India. Starc has played 75 Tests in his cricketing career wherein he has bagged 304 wickets to his name.
