Rahul Tripathi who has been a stellar performer in the IPL and the domestic circuit received his T20I cap from India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour ahead of the second T20I in Pune.

The Ranchi-born cricketer made good impressions on the field by getting involved in two outstanding fielding efforts during the passage of play. Tripathi saved a boundary by putting in a full-blooded dive.

He drew plaudits for his extraordinary fielding effort near the boundary rope. During the third ball of the 12th over, Pathum Nissanka decided to go for a maximum off Axar Patel but mistimed it in the first place.

Nissanka’s shot lacked elevation as it ended up travelling towards the deep mid-wicket. Meanwhile, Rahul Tripathi who had his eyes on the ball sprinted towards the deep mid-wicket and took a spectacular catch in his safe pair of hands.

After taking a terrific catch, Rahul Tripathi raised both his hands in delight, as part of his celebration. Meanwhile, Axar Patel literally thought that the ball went for a six as he was confused by Rahul Tripathi’s celebration.

Talking about the game, Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first. The likes of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis got off to a spectacular start by adding 80 runs for the opening wicket before Yuzvendra Chahal trapped Kusal Mendis for an LBW.
