The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 which was held in Australia didn’t end on a perfect note for Team India despite playing the marquee event with all their bases covered.
The Men in Blue ran through a perfect start in the group stage as they secured as many as eight points, more than any other team in the showpiece event and as a result, Rohit Sharma and Co qualified for the semi-finals.
However, all their efforts were to no avail when they locked horns with the England cricket team in the semis. England literally toyed with Team India with ease as they went on to win the game by 10 wickets.
Dinesh Karthik analyzes Ravichandran Ashwin’s performance in T20 World Cup and says Chahal would have done a lot more damage
The senior wicketkeeper-batsman, Dinesh Karthik has now analyzed Ravichandran Ashwin’s performance in the showpiece event in Australia. According to him, Ravi Ashwin started the tournament well but didn’t end it well.
For the record, India’s veteran off-spinner bagged as many as six wickets from five matches at an average of 25.83. He was not that economically good in some games as he was belted by the batters with ease.
Ravi Ashwin had a pretty expensive economy of 8.15. Overall, Ashwin had a decent performance in the T20 World Cup and moreover, he was the one who hit the winning runs in the form of a boundary against Pakistan in the Super 12.
According to Dinesh Karthik, Yuzvendra Chahal would have inflicted a lot more damage on the opposition teams had he been selected in the first place. In fact, Ravi Bishnoi earned the call-up ahead of the Chahal.
However, the team management went with Ravi Ashwin as the first-choice spinner, thus leading to a Chahal vs Ashwin debate. While speaking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said, Yuzvendra Chahal would have been an interesting choice.
At least Ashwin was a better batsman than DK in T20 WC 2022

Ashwin literally saved you from your biggest embarasment against Pakistan. You couldn't even do your finishing role properly and he did your role for us in WC. Shame on you DK. Ashwin is always the greatest cricketer to play for India from TN.

"Chahal would've made a lot more damage" wow anyone can say that in hindsight……I really find it so funny how these cricketers change their views based on the results. If he thought so then he cud have suggested that to the captain at that time only being a senior player.

You are the only obstacle in the team that didnt do well, forget about playing with intent, didn't even finish the game when we require 2 off 2 against Pak, against SA 6 off 15 balls, could have played chahal instead of you

Easier to be wise afterwards. Ashwin played as an experienced campaigner more so when Bumrah was absent. Also Chahal tends to be expensive. Importantly dont like him laughing when hit for a boundary. Ask him to stop that habit. Will help him.
