Fans on Twitter reacted after the Afghanistan cricket team made a schoolboy error against Sri Lanka to get eliminated from the Asia Cup 2023. They reacted hilariously and mocked them for not being aware of the calculations and said that they should’ve borrowed calculators from RCB fans
Afghanistan made a schoolboy error as they weren’t aware that the target could be chased against Sri Lanka
The game between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka went down the wire and it’s fair to say that it was the best game of the tournament. Both the teams stood tall and handled the pressure situations well but it was Sri Lanka in the end who bagged the game by 2 runs.
A decent batting effort from Sri Lanka saw them posting 291 runs on the board. Kusal Mendis was the star performer for his team as he slammed 92 runs whereas vital contributions from Pathum Nissanka (41), Dimuth Karunaratne (32), Charith Asalanka (36), Maheesh Theekshana (28) and Dunith Wellalage (33) powered their side to a decent total.
To make it into the Super Four stage, Afghanistan needed to chase the target in 37.1 overs. They had a poor start as they lost four quick wickets. But captain Hashmatullah Shahidi (59) and Mohammad Nabi (65) smashed rollicking half-centuries to bring their side back in the game but they lost wickets at crucial junctures.
Rashid Khan played a brilliant cameo to take his team close to the target. But they didn’t reach the target in 37.1 overs. The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led even after playing 37.1 overs had a chance to qualify as they needed to hit 6 runs in the next three balls but they weren’t aware.
Twitter reacts as Afghanistan makes a schoolboy error in calculations and loses game against Sri Lanka
As Afghanistan made a schoolboy error in calculations and lost the game against Sri Lanka, fans on Twitter reacted to it. They mocked the team for their poor management and gave some home hilarious reactions as well. Here are some of them:
Afghanistan would've still qualified had Fazalhaq Farooqui taken a single and Rashid Khan had hit a boundary in the remaining balls of the 38th over.
A massive miscalculation by Afghanistan which will pinch them for a long! pic.twitter.com/9ZVACRoc97Advertisement

But who is responsible 4 this massive miscalculation? As an Afghan fan I want those people punished who didn’t do their job regarding this qualification scenario! This issue shouldn’t be ignored! #AFGvSL@mufaddal_vohra @CricCrazyJohns @jafarhaand @IbrahimReporter @rashidkhan_19 https://t.co/cNT7QJ3AuY

The management sitting there was doing nothing coach & support staff duty is to what's best for their team they should have shared info to Farooqi & he would have told same to Rashid Khan he thought Afghanistan lost after Mujeeb got out

Again, reminds me of the last minute calculations of Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals in 2014 last group stage match. Unreal, thought never gonna happen again, almost did. https://t.co/T07AGpe51W

Is Afghanistan management for real? They didn't even know that qualification was still possible. https://t.co/yOdPJo6QSp
