However, MS Dhoni and Co made a stellar comeback in the second and third games respectively. Chennai Super Kings beat Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.
After that, they defeated Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, Chennai Super Kings lost to Rajasthan Royals by 3 runs in a thrilling encounter at CSK’s fortress.

After that, they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by 81 runs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. RCB lost to Lucknow Super Giants by 1 wicket in a last-ball thriller in Bengaluru.
