With just 30 days remaining in the start of the cash-rich Indian Premier League, top-tier paceman Jasprit Bumrah has opted to pull out of the tournament owing to his back injury.
The highly-anticipated Indian Premier League will go all guns blazing from March 31 onwards. The defending champions, Gujarat Titans will take on Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 opener.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was out of competitive cricket for quite a long time now. He had to miss both the Asia Cup 2022 and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 owing to the injury.
India missed his services in the bowling unit for both marquee events. The right-arm pace bowler is yet to recover from the back injury and which is why he remains unfit for the upcoming season of the IPL.
Jasprit Bumrah’s absence will be a big blow to Mumbai Indians in the next season. Now, in this article, let’s take a look at the two bowlers Mumbai Indians can sign as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the IPL 2023 season.
1. Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep Sharma could be the ideal replacement for Jasprit Bumrah without any second thoughts. He is that one option Mumbai Indians can count on because he is one of the most underrated bowlers in the history of the IPL.
Sandeep Sharma is best known for his potential to keep things tight in the powerplay overs. He has taken a total of 114 wickets to his name in 104 games at a bowling average of 26.33 and an economy of 7.77.
2. Dhawal Kulkarni
Dhawal Kulkarni was part of the Mumbai Indians’ squad in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League. However, he didn’t get an opportunity to break into the playing XI.
In fact, he was part of Mumbai Indians in 2020-21 but didn’t make any appearances for the club. He has a pretty decent experience in the IPL as he has played 92 matches and has taken 86 wickets at an average of 28.77 and an economy of 8.31.
