Meanwhile, India’s veteran off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin etched his name into the record books after he surpassed Kapil Dev to become India’s third-highest wicket-taker in international cricket.

Ravi Ashwin achieved the feat during the ongoing third Test against Australia at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. He picked up three wickets to his name and he went on to dismiss Peter Handscomb, Alex Carrey and Nathan Lyon.

Ravi Ashwin has taken 466 wickets in Tests, 151 wickets in ODIs and 72 wickets in T20Is. Overall, he has taken 689 wickets in international cricket. On the other side of the coin, legendary Kapil Dev has taken 434 wickets in Test cricket and 253 runs in One-Day Internationals.

Overall, Kapil Dev took 687 wickets in international cricket. Ravi Ashwin has scored 3106 runs in Tests at an average of 27.25. On the contrary, Kapil Dev scored 5248 runs at an average of 31.1 including 8 centuries and 27 fifties.

He scored 3783 runs in ODIs at an average of 23.8 including 1 century and 14 fifties whereas Ashwin scored 707 runs in ODIs including one fifty.
