Delhi Capitals had a dismissal outing in the IPL 2022 as after qualifying for three consecutive years, they failed to reach the playoffs. They ended the season fifth on the points table and they would be hoping to break the shackles and clinch their maiden title in IPL 2023.

3 Players Delhi Capitals could have picked instead of Manish Pandey

Delhi Capitals had a decent auction ahead of the IPL 2023.  They brought in the likes of Phil Salt, Ishant Sharma, Manish Pandey, Mukesh Kumar, and Rilee Rossouw to strengthen their team. While many lauded them for the rest of the picks, they were critiqued for picking Manish Pandey as they feel that the batter didn’t suit their brand of play and hasn’t been underperforming for a while so should’ve picked someone else. 3 Players Delhi Capitals could have picked instead of Manish Pandey, who they acquired for 50 lakhs.

KS Bharat

It’s fair to say that Delhi Capitals made the biggest mistake to let go of KS Bharat. The keeper batter was part of the team in the IPL 2022 and didn’t get the desired game time and was released by the team ahead of the auction. The right-hander has been in exceptional form of late and played a significant role in RCB’s success in IPL 2021. Also with him being the top-order batter along with keeper, he could’ve been a perfect pick for the franchise instead of Pandey, who of late has struggled to get going and is bagging consistent failures.

Priyam Garg

Priyam Garag is another player Delhi Capitals could have picked instead of Manish Pandey. The young batter was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2021 and didn’t get opportunity for most of the games. He was drafted into the team during the fag end of the season and he cashed the opportunity well and it was expected the right-hander would get a longer rope in IPL 2023. But he was released by the team. However, it was a great opportunity for DC to acquire him as they were in a need of a middle-order batter. But Garg being young and aggressive, he could’ve been a perfect buy for Delhi instead of Pandey, who takes time to get going and plays with relatively less strike rate than Parag, who went unsold. He has played 14 matches in IPL for far and has scored 133 runs at a strike rate of 119.81.

Mandeep Singh

Another player Delhi Capitals could have picked instead of Manish Pandey is Mandeep Singh. The Punjab player was part of the Punjab Kings in the last season and didn’t get the opportunity to play. He also could’ve been vital for Delhi Capitals in the middle order as his ability to take bowlers to the cleaners right from the ball 1 would’ve benefited Delhi considering the firepower they have in the team. Also, he has been in staggering form in the domestic circuit and has played a great role for RCB in the past. Overall in 108 games, he has scored 1692 runs to go with 6 fifties.
