Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer was last seen in action during the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka in Thiruvanthapuram where he scored 38 runs to his name on January 15, Sunday.

Meanwhile, in the latest development, Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against the New Zealand cricket owing to a back injury.

New Zealand’s tour of India comprises three ODIs followed by three ODIs and the tour begins with the ODI series, with the first game slated to be played on January 18, Wednesday at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Rajat Patidar replaces injured Shreyas Iyer for New Zealand ODIs

Meanwhile, the Indian selection committee decided to name Rajat Patidar as the replacement for the injured Shreyas Iyer. Fans are hoping that Iyer’s back injury is not a serious one as they want him to be back in action for the Border Gavaskar Trophy series.

According to the official statement issued by the BCCI, Shreyas Iyer will be heading to the NCA in Bengaluru for further assessment. Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, Team India kick-started the ongoing calendar year with a 3-0 series win over the Sri Lankan cricket team recently.

The Men in Blue will also be looking forward to continuing with the same winning template to come out on top in the ODI series. If they manage to defeat New Zealand by 3-0 in the series, then they will be the No.1 ODI team in the ICC ODI team rankings.

The second ODI will be held on January 21, Saturday at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur whereas the third and final ODI will be played on January 24, Tuesday at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.
