Along with former players Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi was selected as a temporary head selector of the men’s squad. Consequently, there have been a lot of changes in the Pakistan cricket squad, and one former player’s international career may also be on the upswing thanks to the new leadership.
Mohammad Amir, a fast bowler for Pakistan, declared his retirement from international cricket the following year due to a lack of playing opportunities after his last T20I appearance in 2020, a match against England. Amir has been active in County Championships and other T20 competitions throughout the world, and he may soon be making a return to the national side as a pacer.
During a short media encounter, a reporter asked Amir whether he could see himself playing for Pakistan again.
Amir said, “Let’s see. Agar Allah ne chaaha toh (if god’s willing).”
Amir, a left-arm bowler, has lately been using the NCA to get in shape for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League.
The 30-year-old cricket superstar has played in 36 Tests, 61 One-Day Internationals, and 50 Twenty Twenty Matches for Pakistan. He led the national team’s pace attack in many ICC competitions and was instrumental in Pakistan’s Champions Trophy win in 2017, in which they beat India in the final.
Pakistan and New Zealand are playing in a two-Test series right now, with the first game in Karachi finishing in a tie. New Zealand, who were set a target of 138 with 15 overs left in the day, raced to 61/1 in just 7.3 overs before poor light called a stop to the day’s play, putting the Babar Azam-led side through a fright.
