“I Don’t Take His Statement Seriously”- Mohammad Amir Replies To Rohit Sharma’s 6-Year-Old Remark About Him

The Indian cricket team and the Pakistan cricket team do not play international matches against each other regularly. They only meet at the ICC tournaments and Asia Cup. Back in 2016, India battled Pakistan in Asia Cup and ICC T20 World Cup. Mohammad Amir troubled the Men in Blue during their Asia Cup match in Bangladesh.

So before the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 match between the Indian cricket team and the Pakistan cricket team, Rohit Sharma was asked about Mohammad Amir at a press conference. Sharma asked the journalists to stop talking about him because there were other bowlers in the Pakistan squad who were also in good form.

Sharma also mentioned that there was too much hype surrounding Amir, and he felt the hype was too high considering he gave only one good performance against the Indian cricket team. The current Indian cricket team captain further mentioned that people should not compare Mohammad Amir to Wasim Akram after just one good performance. He even labeled him as a normal bowler.

Fans should note that one year later, Amir bowled another magnificent spell against the Indian cricket team and helped the Pakistan cricket team win the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 Final.

Mohammad Amir has responded to Rohit Sharma after six years

Six years after Rohit Sharma made that statement, Mohammad Amir has now finally responded to the Hitman. Here’s what was quoted as saying by Asports:

“I don’t take Rohit Sharma’s statement seriously. Everyone has his own opinion and it is impossible that everyone regards me as a world-class bowler. There is nothing to be felt bad about it, and as a professional, we should not take such things in a negative way. You cannot be everyone’s favorite.”

Since Amir is ready to come out of retirement, it will be interesting to see if plays for Pakistan again.
