India’s southpaw Rishabh Pant is currently not part of the three-match ODI series against the Bangladesh cricket team. The southpaw recently came under fire for his inability to maintain consistency levels.
The wicketkeeper-batsman chipped in with a string of low scores for the team. As a result, he came under fire for his disastrous performances, thus triggering the Rishabh Pant-Sanju Samson debate in the cricket fraternity.
On the other hand, several cricket experts and cricketers backed Rishabh Pant despite his poor form. They justified the reason by adding that Pant has been doing well in the long term.
Rishabh Pant requests the team management to release him from the ODI squad
Meanwhile, in the latest development, Rishabh Pant has now requested the Indian cricket team management to release him from the ODI squad for the Bangladesh series.
KL Rahul played the role of a wicketkeeper-batsman in the first ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka. He was the pick of the batters for the hosts as he scored 73 runs to his name. Unfortunately, India lost the game by 1 wicket.
Meanwhile, as reported by Cricbuzz, Pant has requested the team management to release him right away from the ODI squad. For the unversed, there are neither disciplinary issues nor any COVID-19 situations.
The exact reason why Pant was released from the squad is not known yet. Pant has represented the Indian cricket team in 30 One-Day Internationals. Overall, he has aggregated 865 runs to his name at an average of 34.6.
The southpaw has slammed one century and five half-centuries to his name, including 90 boundaries and 26 hits over the fence in his ODI career. Pant registered his best score of an unbeaten 125.
He has been named in the Test squad against Bangladesh. India will play two Tests against the Tigers after the conclusion of the ODI series.

People don’t realise that a super technical game like cricket has everything to do with mindset and mental strength in general. If he stays in the team when all that is fugged, he’s anyways going to underperform
