Ruturaj Gaikwad earned a call-up to the Indian cricket team in the past in the aftermath of the consistent performances in Indian Premier League for Chennai Super Kings.

However, as it turned out, he failed to cement his place in the Indian cricket team, despite getting a handful of games in the shortest format. Having played nine games so far, he accumulated only 135 runs at an average of 16.9.
