‘What Have I Done?’-Rishabh Pant Recalls Shubman Gill’s Words When He Got Out For 91 In The Gabba Test

Rishabh Pant, who also bats and keeps wickets for India, has divulged the information that his teammate Shubman Gill was really upset with himself after being dismissed during the last test match of the 2020–21 series against Australia at the Gabba. In the second innings, while they were trying to reach 328 for victory, the Australian spinner, Nathan Lyon, dismissed Gill for 91 runs.

Pant said that he and Gill had spoken about going for a victory rather than settling for a draw. But when the opener was dismissed by Lyon, he stormed back to the pavilion cursing himself, according to Pant. In the end, the wicketkeeper-batter was the one who needed to soothe the 22-year-old by telling him that he had done a good job in batting.

What did Rishabh Pant say about Shubman Gill?

In an episode of the documentary series titled “Bandon Mein Tha Dum,” Pant was quoted as saying, “Gill and I had decided that we wanted to win the match and not simply draw it. Gill was playing the pull shot and the cut shot consistently. Because we had spoken about it, I couldn’t help but feel relieved. Only one idea was running through my head: we had to come out on top. After Gill suddenly got out. Then he became enraged. “He was blaming himself and yelling, ‘What have I done?’ as he stomped into the change room,” recalled Pant.

Rishabh Pant reassured Shubman Gill not to be concerned, saying, “You have batted well.”

The Indian team’s successful chase of 328 runs on the final day of the Brisbane Test match is regarded as one of the most memorable games for Indian supporters. This is because the match took place at the Gabba, a venue in which Australia had consistently held a competitive advantage over the opposing teams for many years.
