Royal Challengers Bangalore could make some bold decisions ahead of the upcoming season. It might involve releasing some well-known names. However, considering it is a mini-auction, RCB might not go for a complete reset. The team might surprisingly retain a few names despite their off-colour performances in IPL 2023. Here, we take a look at the list of three players whom RCB could surprisingly retain before the IPL 2024 Auctions.
1) Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik struggled with form and fitness in IPL 2023. Since then, he has not been a part of the sport. Hence, it is not sure if RCB would retain him before the auctions.
Nevertheless, there is still time for DK to prepare, if he wants to continue being a part of the competition. Not many experienced wicket-keepers are available in the market and RCB might stick with him for his expertise.
2) Akash Deep
Akash Deep is one of the players whom RCB could surprisingly retain before the IPL 2024 Auctions. The West Bengal pacer was not in great form last season. After the first few games, he got dropped and could not make a return.
However, he is one of the rising pacers in the domestic circuit. He was recently a part of the Asian Games 2023 squad. Considering he is at a very low salary, RCB might retain him, at least, as a backup.
3) Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel leaked a lot of runs in IPL 2023. He was inconsistent, as well. His salary is too high and he would be one of the first names to be discussed for the RCB management.
However, players of his profile are not easily available in the market. Mohammed Siraj could, at times, leak runs, as well. Experience is needed in this regard. If Harshal has a decent run in the domestic cricket in the next few weeks, he could be retained by the side.
