In a dramatic turn of events, the fifth Test match between India and England was cancelled with clarifications on the upshot of the game still to be declared. Initially, there were rumours of India forfeiting the match, but BCCI clarified that no such thing has happened and the fate of the game will be decided in due course of time.
In the meanwhile, Nasser Hussain opened up about the situation surrounding the game. He was heard quoting that it is a mess everywhere and there would be no Test match at Old Trafford.

He shed light on the fact that there was still an ongoing debate about the upshot the game. He said that ECB will be working out the upshot of the game with ICC and India in due course.
He also said that he had a lot of sympathy for the Indian players and their second physio, who has worked relentlessly to fix the Indian team after the coaching staff contracted the virus. He also mentioned the fact that how there would have been sore bodies and conditions, and doing physiotherapy without close contact is absolutely impossible.
The former English captain explained why the Test couldn’t go ahead
Hussain explained very nicely about how the players testing negative twice before the fifth Test can later develop the symptoms as the incubation period for the virus is 3-5 days. He quoted that in case after the Test starts and a player gets affected, then India will have to lose players in between and the Test’s fate can very well be impacted by the same.

With the Covid subs coming in play and a lot of other red tape, things won’t really be the same. He also opened up about his feelings for the supporters, who were excited to watch a fascinating day of cricket.
He very nicely summed up the fact of travelling supporters missing out on their daily jobs and errands only to watch their favourite cricketers play. ECB has also mentioned the refunding of the tickets.
He was also unhappy about the missed conclusion, as he believed that everyone deserved a pat on the back for the fabulous job that they have done. He was also vocal about how this has been a wonderful series between two best teams of the world and it thoroughly deserved a rollicking conclusion.
He concluded by saying that it was a real shame that the game had to end on such a low note after unfortunate circumstances, playing spoilsport.
