Mumbai Indians are locking horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 54th match of IPL 2023. The intriguing battle between these two titans is taking place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Earlier, MI captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore to bat first. The visitors ran through hiccups in the early stages of the game, losing a couple of wickets.
Despite stuttering at 16/2, RCB steadied the ship in the form of Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. The overseas duo took the game away from Mumbai Indians by adding quickfire 120-run partnership.
As it turned out, Jason Behrendorff who dismissed both Virat Kohli and Anuj Rawat early on went on to dismiss Glenn Maxwell for 68 runs. Faf du Plessis was outsmarted by Cameron Green for 68 runs.
Akash Madhwal concedes just 6 runs in final over
Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma handed over the ball to Akash Madhwal to bowl the final over. The right-arm fast bowler made a fantastic comeback in the last over as he conceded only six runs, which was fantastic.
For the unversed, the bowler didn’t bowl well in his first over as he conceded as many as 17 runs. However, he made a rock-solid statement by sticking to his line and length.
He bowled a dot ball in his first delivery before conceding 1, 2, 1, 1 and 1 in the subsequent deliveries of the over. Akash gave away only six runs in the last over as RCB finished the innings at 199/6 in their quota of 20 overs.
Mumbai Indians’ playing XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Tim David, Nehal Wadhera, Chris Jordan, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal, Kumar Kartikeya, Jason Behrendorff
