Ruturaj Gaikwad earned a call-up to the Indian cricket team in the past in the aftermath of the consistent performances in Indian Premier League for Chennai Super Kings.
However, as it turned out, he failed to cement his place in the Indian cricket team, despite getting a handful of games in the shortest format. Having played nine games so far, he accumulated only 135 runs at an average of 16.9.
He smashed just one half-century to his name, registering his personal best score of 57. On the other hand, he has played one ODI so far, scoring 19 runs to his name. Currently, he is plying his trade for Maharashtra in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022.

Meanwhile, the right-handed batter etched his name into the record books after he smashed as many as 43 runs in the 49th over off Shiva Singh in the second quarter final clash between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh at Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground, Ahmedabad.
He became the first player in history to hit seven sixes in an over and accomplished a new record to his name. His surreal knock came in the quarter-final and the timing couldn’t have been better.
In the process, he went on to score a wonderful double century as his innings powered Maharashtra to 330/5 in their quota of 50 overs. The Maharashtra skipper scored an unbeaten 220 off 159 balls including 10 fours, 16 sixes.
