A three-figure mark is one of the most coveted achievements in cricket. In the world of ODI cricket, a century is considered even more prestigious. Players take pride in scoring a century, and if this feat comes against India, one of the best limited over sides in World cricket, it is like a cherry on the cake. Several players dream of scoring a century against India and a lot more fail to achieve this prestigious feat. However, there are a few who have scored a plethora of centuries against the blue army. Let us look at the top four players who have scored the most ODI centuries against India. 

1. Sanath Jayasuriya: 

The former Sri Lankan skipper was one of the most feared openers of his time. His sheer power and ability to clear the boundaries with comparative ease made him into a world-beater. He especially enjoyed batting against the Indian side. His powerplay prowess always haunted the Indian seamers who struggled against Jayasuriya. He managed to score 2899 runs in 85 innings against India. The explosive opener bagged seven centuries in the process and topped the list of players with the most ODI centuries against India.

2. AB De Villiers: 

The former South African skipper is one of the most loved overseas cricketers in India. He reciprocates the feeling towards Indian fans and often calls India his ‘second home.’ However, he has arguably been the worst nightmare for the Indian bowlers. The Royal Challengers Bangalore star has dominated the Indian batsman like no other player in World cricket. He managed to score 1357 runs against the Indian side in just 32 innings at a staggering average of 48.46. Ab De Villiers also boasts a strike rate of over 111 against the Indian team, which is one of the highest against the cricket crazy nation. He has six centuries under his belt against the Men in Blue. 

3. Ricky Ponting: 

At one point in time, Ponting was one of the most hated cricketers due to his exploits in the 2003 World Cup final. The then Australian skipper decimated the Indian bowling almost single-handedly with his mammoth 140 runs innings. The Tasmanian stalwart has played several memorable innings against the Indian national cricket team, including the century in the quarterfinals of the 2011 World Cup. Even though his last century against India in 2011 World Cup resulted in a defeat for Australia, Ricky Ponting managed to give a little scare to all Indian cricket fans.

The Indians have shared a love-hate relationship with one of the most successful skippers in World cricket. The 2007 World Cup-winning captain has scored 2164 runs against the Indian side at an average of 40.07. He has managed to score six centuries against the Indian side. 

4. Kumar Sangakkara: 

Similar to his countrymen Sanath Jayasuriya, Sangakkara also enjoyed batting against the Indian side. The wicket-keeper batsman is a popular figure in India due to his humble nature and several successful stints in the Indian Premier League, where he represented various franchises. His shared amicable relationships with the Indian fans and players despite being one of the worst nightmares of Indian bowlers. He managed to score 2700 runs in 71 International innings against the Indian side. The former Sri Lankan skipper boasted an average of 39.70 against a strong bowling department of India. He bagged six centuries in the process and was well respected by the Indian bowlers.
