When it comes to scouting talents, Mumbai Indians is one franchise that has always done well. The five-time champions have been able to unearth the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, who have also been brilliant for Team India. There have also been players who have been part of the MI camp but could not get chances due to various reasons. Thanks to the introduction of two more teams, these cricketers are flourishing in the ongoing campaign. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three uncapped former Mumbai Indians cricketers who have done well in IPL 2022.
1) Jitesh Sharma (Punjab Kings) – IPL 2016
Initially, before the season started, many expected Jonny Bairstow or Prabhsmiran Singh to don the gloves for Punjab Kings in IPL 2022. However, it is Jitesh Sharma who has done the role for a major part of the campaign for the franchise.
A find of Mumbai Indians, Jitesh has done a terrific job with cameos such as 30(15)*, 32(23), 38(18)*, and 44(23). He has struck runs at a strike rate of 158 so far and to do that consistently is a great sign. Going forward, Jitesh will be an important part of the Punjab Kings XI.
2) Mohsin Khan (Lucknow Super Giants) – IPL 2020-21
Mohsin Khan is one of the uncapped former Mumbai Indians cricketers who have done well in IPL 2022. One of the most impressive young cricketers this season has been Mohsin Khan. Interestingly, the left-arm seamer was at Mumbai Indians for a few years and honed his skills under Zaheer Khan.
In eight games, so far, in IPL 2022, Mohsin has collected 13 wickets at an average of 13.23 and a splendid economy of just 5.93. He has been excellent with his ability to dismiss batters in the powerplay. There are already reports that he could be in line for an India debut soon.
3) Simarjeet Singh (Chennai Super Kings) – IPL 2021
Simarjeet Singh from Delhi is yet another former MI cricketer who is doing well this season. The speedster was with the franchise in UAE last season. He was the replacement signing for Arjun Tendulkar.
Although he has gone under the radar, Simrajeet has actually been good for CSK. He might have collected just 3 wickets in 5 games but left many impressed with his economy of 8. For a player in his debut season, this is a terrific record. He has got a good pace and that can help CSK as they do not have many players with this attribute.
