By the start of IPL 2025, Glenn Maxwell will be 36 years old. He still would have at least two good years in the Indian Premier League if he returns back to his form. RCB might not retain him and could try to buy him back at the auctions. However, a few other teams could also eye the Aussie. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three teams that could target Glenn Maxwell if he is released by RCB.
1) Chennai Super Kings
The rivalry between CSK and RCB is at its peak now. From now on, both teams will consider a lot before buying a player from their rivals. Glenn Maxwell is a true RCBian at the moment.
However, skill-wise, Maxi would be a perfect fit at Chepauk. He can also bowl his off-spinners, which would further add value to the setup. CSK targeted him a few seasons ago and they could do that again.
2) Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans is one of the teams that could target Glenn Maxwell if he is released by RCB. It is not sure if David Miller will be with GT after IPL 2024. Anyways, Miller is a No.5 batter and GT needs some experience at No.4 or even No.3.
In this regard, Maxwell will fit the requirements of the franchise. His spin-bowling will be an added advantage for the team. Therefore, the IPL 2022 champions could target him.
3) Rajasthan Royals
RR has employed the rule of not having an all-rounder in the playing XI. It is also more about not having a suitable player who could have been a part of the XI.
Maxwell would fit in at No.4 for the franchise. Riyan Parag plays pace well and can come in at No.5. One of Shimron Hetmyer or Rovman Powell could become a target again for the No.6 position.
