Fifteen years is a long time in cricket, especially in the T20 format. Teams are perenially on the lookout for young talent and hence, cricketers have a very narrow margin for failure in this format. Nevertheless, a few players have survived this. There have been seven World Cups so far and a few of them who were part of the first edition will also play in the eighth edition. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three players who played in the 2007 T20 WC and will also play in the 2022 T20 WC.
1) Rohit Sharma
Performance in 2007 T20 WC: Games 4 || Runs: 88 || Strike Rate: 144
The captain of the Indian Team, Rohit Sharma was part of the 2007 T20 World Cup squad that won the trophy. He was popular for his natural talent and contributed with a few vital cameos, including one in the final.
Cut to 2022, Rohit is leading the squad and might be playing in his last T20 WC because the next one is scheduled in 2024. Since 2007, a lot has changed in Rohit’s career. He has attained consistency as a batter and has also become an elite opener, completely different from the middle-order role he donned back then. The Mumbai cricketer will want to lead the team to a trophy win in Australia.

2) Shakib Al Hasan
Performance in 2007 T20 WC: Games 5 || Runs: 67 || Wickets: 6
Shakib Al Hasan is one of the players who played in the 2007 T20 WC and will also play in the 2022 T20 WC. The Bangladesh all-rounder has played 31 matches, so far, in T20 World Cups. He is the highest wicket-taker with 41 scalps. Of course, he has more than often contributed with the bat, as well.
There have been controversies and other issues in between. However, Shakib is still a vital part of the setup. He will yet again be the most important player for his team and will also lead the squad
3) Dinesh Karthik
Performance in 2007 T20 WC: Games 4 || Runs: 28 || Strike Rate: 127
DK did not have a great outing in 2007 but he has a chance to make amends. The player has recently forced a comeback to the Indian T20I squad.
Despite his age, DK got selected for the mega event in October. He is in good form and India will hope that he retains the form for the competition in Australia.
Dreams do come true 💙
