Mini Auctions do not reflect the true value of a cricketer. It has to do more with the demand of that profile and the corresponding supply. That said, if a player is sold for more than INR 10 Cr, it reflects that he is a decent player and should be in the IPL for a few years. However, the case could be different now. Mega Auctions offer different dynamics and some expensive players in the last season could go without a contract. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players sold for more than INR 10 Cr in IPL 2024 Auctions but could be unsold in IPL 2025 Auctions.
1) Daryl Mitchell – INR 14 Cr
With Ambati Rayudu retiring, CSK needed a good player of spin in the middle order. Hence, they went hard for Mitchell, who did well in India in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
However, the Kiwi could not do justice to his salary. He had a few failed knocks and was even dropped from the side. With this show, it is hard for him to get another IPL contract.
2) Alzarri Joseph – INR 11.5 Cr
Alzarri Joseph is one of the players sold for more than INR 10 Cr in IPL 2024 Auctions but could be unsold in IPL 2025 Auctions. Nowadays, there are too many hit-the-deck bowlers on the market. Many Indians like Mayank Yadav are also there.
Joseph was unable to shed the tag of being an expensive bowler in IPL 2024. The stint with RCB did not go well. He did not play most of the matches. No other team could now trust him again.
3) Spencer Johnson – INR 10 Cr
With Mohammed Shami out, Spencer Johnson had a great chance to establish in the IPL. However, he could not make that happen.
Since then, he has not done well for Australia and there is no popularity in T20 leagues, as well. Therefore, there might not be a demand for him.
