It will be interesting to see the strategy RCB employs before the auctions. They would surely go into the auctions with a few RTM Cards in hand. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players RCB might not retain but could buy back using the RTM Card.
1) Glenn Maxwell
It is easy to ignore Glenn Maxwell after the torrid season he had in IPL 2024. However, he is a class cricketer and his form has improved now. Therefore, RCB might not be able to afford to retain him but can surely get him back at the auctions.
The RTM Card can be important for RCB here. Many teams could go behind Maxi and as a strategy, RCB must keep their RTM Card for him. At No.4, Maxi is still one of the best batters in the league.
2) Cameron Green
Cameron Green is one of the players RCB might not retain but could buy back using the RTM Card. If not for his back injury, Green would have surely been retained by RCB. However, now, it is very unlikely that RCB will take such a big risk.
At the same time, RCB will want to have Green for IPL 2026 and beyond. Hence, he could be available for a cut-price rate at the auctions. RTM Card is something the management can employ if they want Green back in the setup.
3) Mahipal Lomror
Mahipal Lomror provided a few good cameos last season. He is a good player against spin and is fairly young, as well. Therefore, RCB could target him in the future.
Mahipal could come at a cheap rate for RCB. It is always good to have a player like him, especially with the Impact Player Rule still available. Hence, RCB might not retain him but could use the RTM Card for him.
