Lucknow Super Giants made their debut in IPL 2022 and finished third on the points table. LSG battled the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator match of the playoffs, where the Bangalore-based franchise emerged victorious. The LSG team management will now look forward to the 2023 IPL season.

Considering that it was the debut season of the team, fans would appreciate the fact that they managed to finish in the Top 4. However, looking at the way they were playing in the competition, some would feel that Lucknow had the potential to win the trophy. Nevertheless, keeping IPL 2023 in mind, LSG will look to retain most of the players, but they might let go of the following three players from their squad.

1. LSG may not retain Marcus Stoinis for IPL 2023 because of the price tag

Marcus Stoinis was one of the three players drafted by the Lucknow Super Giants in their squad ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. As per reports, his salary is 9.2 crore. He played 11 matches in the tournament, scoring 156 runs at an average of 19.50. With the ball, he leaked runs at an economy rate of 11.28. It will be interesting to see if LSG retains him.

2. LSG may release Andrew Tye ahead of IPL 2023

Former IPL Purple Cap winner Andrew Tye had a forgettable IPL 2022 season. He joined Lucknow as a replacement for Mark Wood. Tye played three games for the team, scalping two wickets at an economy rate of 9.72. It seems unlikely that Lucknow would retain him.

3. Manish Pandey

Experienced Indian batter Manish Pandey was dropped from the playing XI after he scored only 88 runs in six matches. His average was less than 15, while his strike rate was 110. But considering his talent and experience in the IPL, Lucknow may look to release him and buy him at a cheaper price for IPL 2023.
