Recently, BCCI announced the list of shortlisted players who will go under the hammer on December 19th in the IPL 2024 Auctions. Naturally, some eyes would fall on the players who are the oldest on the list. Teams are now as focused on instant results as their plan for the future. Hence, it is not a surprise if some of the old players are targeted. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of the three oldest players in IPL 2024 Auctions.
1) Mohammad Nabi – 39 years old
In recent months, Mohammad Nabi has been on the top of this list for every major tournament. Hence, it is not a surprise that his name features here, as well.
A quality all-rounder, his role in IPL has been diminishing off-late. Players need equal contributions from a foreign all-rounder in both departments. Nabi has failed to do this and hence, he is not landing an IPL contract.
2) David Wiese – 38 years old
David Wiese is one more ageing cricketer who has been doing well in T20 leagues across the globe. On his day, he can do a good job with both the bat and the ball. Last year, he was at KKR but did not get a lot of chances to prove his mettle.
A few teams could still be interested in his services. Especially as a backup, Weise would be a good option for teams such as MI and CSK.
3) Jalaj Saxena – 37 years old
Jalaj Saxena is one of the oldest players in IPL 2024 Auctions. There are many cricketers aged 37 at the IPL 2024 Auctions. However, Jalaj is the oldest of them all.
It is interesting that he has earned an opportunity despite being an uncapped India. While teams could be interested in his services, it would be a big surprise if anyone actually hires him.
