Starting on September 22nd, India and Australia will lock horns for a three-match ODI series. It will be interesting to see if India would make any changes to the squad that won the Asia Cup. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indians in the Asia Cup squad who might not get selected for the Australia ODI series.

1) Tilak Varma

The Asian Games will start soon and hence, India might have to release Tilak Varma. Of course, there is also the option of the BCCI retaining Tilak Varma on the standby list.

That said, India must also focus on winning the Gold at the Asian Games. It is a prestigious honour and hence, Tilak would be really important to achieve it.

2) Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna is one of the Indians in the Asia Cup squad who might not get selected for the Australia ODI series. In the three matches, it might be all about the right practice for the Indian bowling attack on the Indian pitches.

Hence, Prasidh might not get a game since he is not part of the ODI World Cup squad. Hence, the talented pacer might miss out on the squad for the Australia series. Even if he does get selected, it is likely that he may not get a game.

3) Washington Sundar

The Tamil Nadu all-rounder was drafted in as the replacement for Axar Patel for the final of Asia Cup 2023. If Axar does not get fit in time, Washi has a good chance of making it to the squad.

However, it needs to be noted that like with Tilak, Washington Sundar is also a part of the Asian Games squad that will travel to China. Hence, there would be discussions on whether to keep him or release him. It will be interesting to see what decision the selectors would take.
