It has now become a trend with Chennai Super Kings. Almost every campaign, they sign a veteran cricketer who is at the end of his T20 career. Inevitably, the player goes on to do well. It happened with Robin Uthappa in the past and most recently with Ajinkya Rahane. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indians aged above 30 whom CSK could target in IPL 2024 Auctions.
1) Manish Pandey
There are already many reports that CSK could target Manish Pandey at IPL 2024 Auctions. Once a superb IPL cricketer, Manish’s career has gone off-track in the tournament. The last two seasons, with LSG and DC, did not help the player.
Now, he is looking for probably one last good spell in the competition. He needs to be used and guided well. This can happen at CSK. Hence, he could be open to a move to Chennai.
2) Shardul Thakur
Not many know that Shardul Thakur is 32 years old. Having played for CSK before, the franchise might consider investing in the player again.
Shardul can do a good job at Chepauk. He is also decent with the bat and this can be used at No.8 for the franchise. Therefore, CSK could target the Mumbai cricketer.
3) Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav is one of the Indians aged above 30 whom CSK could target in IPL 2024 Auctions. A few seasons ago, Ashish Nehra played for CSK and did well. He went on to be a part of the Indian T20I Team, as well.
As we all know, Umesh Yadav is very much a single-phase bowler. He can wreak havoc with the new ball, especially at venues that have good bounce and carry. It won’t be a surprise if MS Dhoni signs the veteran as a backup for Deepak Chahar or as his partner at specific venues.
