Although the first half was decent, the overall performance of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan as the opening duo has been disappointing. Much more is expected out of the duo, which has also been at the top for India in recent months. In the remaining games, MI can try some different combinations. Here, we take a look at the list of three fresh opening combinations Mumbai Indians can try in the next games of IPL 2024.
1) Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brevis
Dewald Brevis got a few games in the initial stages of the tournament. He could not make the best use of it and since MI was losing games, he did not get a longer rope.
However, Rohit and Brevis would be an interesting combination to try out. There is a mix of youth and experience, along with a lot of aggressive intent. Ishan Kishan could then be tried out at No.3.
2) Ishan Kishan and Dewald Brevis
Ishan Kishan and Dewald Brevis form one of the fresh opening combinations Mumbai Indians can try in the next games of IPL 2024. If MI wants the same left-right combination, they can try out Ishan and Brevis as openers.
However, this might not happen as Rohit Sharma needs good game time as an opener before the World Cup. Also, no other slot would fit him in the batting order.
3) Rohit Sharma and Harvik Desai
Harvik Desai came in as the replacement for Vishnu Vinod in IPL 2024. He is a player in form and has got some good scores recently.
It would not be a bad idea to try Harvik at the top. Considering MI has nothing to lose, they can get the best out of Harvik. If he does well, he could also be an option for the future. Hence, this combination is also on this list.
