With Trevor Bayliss failing to take PBKS to the playoffs in IPL 2024, the management could have a look at other options for the next season. It will be a difficult process for them as their options in recent times have not done well. Nevertheless, this time around, Punjab Kings could think about handing a longer contract to their Head Coach. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three former players whom Punjab Kings can target as the next Head Coach.
1) David Hussey
David Hussey has held several coaching roles before but till now, he has not been a Head Coach in the Indian Premier League. With his experience as a coach and a player, Hussey would be an option worth considering.
Considering he has worked a lot for KKR in a role in the backroom staff, he knows the demands of a Head Coach in the IPL. Hence, he is on this list.
2) Yuvraj Singh
Yuvraj Singh is one of the former players whom Punjab Kings can target as the next Head Coach. One of the first solid T20 players from India, Yuvi would be a decent pick for PBKS.
Till now, Yuvraj is yet to coach any teams. However, when we look at his guidance to Abhishek Sharma and his experience as a T20 player, he would be someone who can do the Head Coach job well.
3) Darren Sammy
The former West Indian all-rounder is currently the Head Coach of West Indies in the white-ball formats. If he does get an opportunity in the IPL, he would probably try to take it up.
Sammy won two T20 World Cups as captain and has won many other T20 leagues, as well. He has good experience in the T20 format and is someone who used to control the game as a captain. Sammy would surely be a good choice for PBKS.
