As per reports, Punjab Kings will not renew the contract with Trevor Bayliss as the Head Coach. The veteran coach could not help the team reach the playoffs in the last two editions. Hence, this was expected. It will be interesting to see whom PBKS approaches for the vacant position. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three current International Coaches whom Punjab Kings must target as the next Head Coach.
1) Daren Sammy
Daren Sammy is one of the current International Coaches whom Punjab Kings must target as the next Head Coach. The two-time T20 World Cup-winning captain is very much committed to the cause of West Indies. He has also shown some improvements.
However, if an IPL chance comes his way, it might be too good to leave it. At PBKS, he could get a free hand to build the squad of his choice. He is also very good tactically and PBKS will benefit from his experience.
2) Jonathan Trott
In the past, we have seen an IPL franchise tempting an international coach to leave the nation. It happened with Mark Boucher recently. Trott is one of the best young coaches in the game and he has helped Afghanistan do really well.
However, he would also be looking at the next step in his career. Punjab Kings would need someone young and someone on whom they can trust for the future. Trott would be the right candidate for them.
3) Matthew Mott
As per reports, England is looking at their future in the white-ball backroom staff. Matthew Mott did help England win the T20 World Cup but he could not do well in the ODI World Cup and the recent T20 World Cup, as well.
Matthew Mott has experience of winning trophies and constructing unbeatable squads. Punjab Kings might just need that approach in the coming seasons. Hence, they could target the Aussie.
