IPL 2025 could see a wave of new skippers getting appointed. It will be the start of a new era for quite a few franchises. Hence, there will be a new skipper at the helm for these squads. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two captains in the 2024 T20 WC who could become newly-appointed captains in IPL 2025.
1) Mitchell Marsh
If Australia has appointed Mitchell Marsh as the skipper ahead of Pat Cummins, it surely means that the all-rounder has good captaincy skills. For the record, in the past, he has won the U19 World Cup as a captain.
Yes, he might have fitness problems but Mitchell Marsh would be a good captaincy candidate to consider. While he brings in a wealth of experience already, as a player, too, he can be dangerous if he plays as an opener.
2) Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is one of the captains in the 2024 T20 WC who could become newly-appointed captains in IPL 2025. The current Indian skipper could look for different opportunities in IPL 2025.
His age might be on the wrong side but if squads like Punjab Kings can sign him, they would surely appoint him as the skipper. Rohit’s fanbase is massive and this would help these teams do well on the brand-front. Therefore, Rohit Sharma could become a captain again in IPL 2025.
3) Aiden Markram
SRH are sure to release Aiden Markram before the next season. They already have Pat Cummins as the skipper for the future. However, Markram would not fall short of chances in IPL 2025.
In fact, teams like RCB could be looking at a profile like him as the next captain of the side. Faf du Plessis may not be retained due to his age and hence, RCB could look for a fellow South African to do the job for them in the coming seasons.
